Welcome to Term 6
Welcome back to term 6! We have lots of exciting activities planned to launch our new topic 'Where in th the world do we live?
We will be learning about about our local area, as well as the different countries that make up the United Kingdom.
We will be thinking about our topic in many areas of the curriculum including English, where we will look at non fiction texts and using them to find information. We will also be using our geography skills to develop an awareness about identifying different areas such as costal, inland, urban and rural areas. We will be learning to read, use and create maps. In science we will be continuing to find out about the different seasons and different types of weather.
Please take a look at the topic web here and on class dojo for more information.
We will continue to develop and promote wellbeing, teach high quality PSHE lessons and fill any gaps from the school closures, as well as teach the new core learning from the Year 1 Curriculum.
As always please message me via ClassDojo if you have any questions or require any further information.
Home learning opportunities
Reading: Please continue to read with your child at home as often as possible. Books will be changed each week on a Monday when we are at school. You can also change your childs books from the selection in the reception area.
Spellings: Each friday we will be sending home spellings for your child to learn, they will be in their green home learning book. Please ensure they understand what each word means and help them practise spelling them.
Maths: Your child has now been given a Numbots login. They can work through the activities in these games to practise the number fact skills we have been learning at school. Please let us know if you need a reminder of your childs login details.
